Dr John Church BSc (Hons), MSc Clin Psych, PsychD, CPsychol, AFBPsS
Dr John Church specialises in providing psychological therapy to individuals, and psycho-legal expertise to agencies providing medico–legal services and rehabilitation, firms of solicitors and insurance companies.
In his one to one psychological treatment, he specialises in providing evidence-based, clinically effective, focused therapy, for adults exhibiting various psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, OCD, phobias, grief reactions and health anxiety and, in his medico-legal practice, he provides comprehensive expert witness reports, following accidents and other traumatic events, that have resulted in personal injury.
Psychology Solutions is based in Banstead, Surrey, where Dr John Church provides one to one psychological therapy, but he also provides his medico-legal services in various clinic locations in Surrey, Essex and Kent.
Dr John Church has more than twenty-five years of experience as a Consultant, Chartered, Clinical Psychologist, of working clinically and managerially within the NHS and private practice settings. Within the NHS he has worked across the spectrum of services, including in primary care settings within GP surgeries, in secondary care as a part of Community Mental Health Teams, in specialist psychological services in HIV and Sexual Health, as well as latterly having been a member of the Senior Management Team of an Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) Service.
In addition to his current private practice, he continues to work as an NHS Consultant Clinical Psychologist where, through being an active participant of NHS psychology services, he maintains up to date knowledge of NICE Guidelines for the treatment psychological problems, as well as of advances in psychological treatment methods.
He has published articles on the psychological consequences of medical accidents, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for depression in people suffering with chronic illness and sexual health, and he also has considerable experience of training and supervising a wide variety of mental health professionals; including trainee and qualified Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Psychiatrists, CBT High Intensity Psychotherapists and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners.
Alongside his clinical doctorate, Dr John Church has completed accredited trainings in CBT and EMDR (to Level II standard). He is alumni of several prestigious institutions including: University of Bath, UCL and the University of Surrey.
In Dr John Church’s one to one therapy with clients, he offers face-to-face, targeted treatments that have proven clinical efficacy, for difficulties such as:

Treatment approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), including Schema Focused Therapy interventions for individuals with more complex reactions that exist within the context of pre-existing psychological vulnerability. He also offers specific trauma-focused interventions, most especially trauma focussed CBT.
